Newsweek references 59-61 are bogus

[edit]

I saw some interesting info in the trial section and so I went and found the supposed source because I wanted to read it. Newsweek December 29, 1986 can be found in digital collections and borrowed online. It doesn’t include a work of the information that it supposedly was the the reference source for 2601:196:8600:C6F0:D106:8A87:3B58:D92A (talk) 23:02, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You mean reference 59, right? It's referenced three times in the article, while references 60+61 are to other sources (not Newsweek). As for the Newsweek reference, I could verify that the Newsweek edition from 29 December 1986 has an article "Trying the 'Butcher of Bangui'; horrifying charges against an African dictator" on p. 27. So far it's correct; I haven't been able to access the actual article content, but the claims attributed to it are all fairly uncontroversial, so I suppose the content to be there if you looked it up. If you haven't been able to find the article at all, I suppose you must have looked in the wrong place? Gawaon (talk) 10:39, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
